I was originally planning a great post all about fun donut clothing items and accessories, but I just can’t bring myself to do it after all that has happened in my great state. I still have linked a few of the fun items above, but I figured this post would be a good one to share some relief efforts for the aftermath of the hurricane. Why? Well…because donuts make everyone happy, and I think everyone could use a smile right now.
That being said, I know you have all heard about the devastation our Texas coastal cities and Houston have been experiencing. Out of all this madness has brought forth a huge coming together of the community. People from ALL walks of life are joining forces to help out those affected by the hurricane and flooding. I have been at such a loss, wishing I could do more to help. I mean, I see friend who have boats literally rescuing those in need! How amazing is that?
I’m sure I’m not the only one who had been racking my brain trying to think of a way to help those in need. The good news is that supplies & donations are coming into the evacuation shelter’s like crazy! But still keep those donations coming, because I’m sure supplies will be needed for a long time!
What has really been on my mind are the animals displaced by the flooding and hurricane. I feel like animals get overlooked all the time because, well…because they are not human. Personally I am a huge animal lover and do not want to see beloved pets suffer. Nor do I want to see those unloved pet’s that were taken for granted suffering (You know, those animals that were left behind purposely or chained up…let’s help them out and give them the chance to live a good life with new families). Donate to help these animals at the Houston SPCA and at the ASPCA websites. I personally sent my donation to the Houston SPCA, however I know the ASPCA will also use the proceeds to help out the animals affected.
Before I go any further, I do not tolerate any negative comments about these causes. Animal are not human, but they still need our help. If you would rather donate to help the people in need, there are so many great places to do so such as the You Care online fundraiser. I have heard the Red Cross is very helpful, however not all the proceeds are going to those affect by Harvey…still a great cause that helps many others in need!
If you have gotten this far, thank you for reading my rambling about the devastation in Houston. Any help is needed, no matter how big or small! Even donating a simple pack of diapers (which I hear are in high demand) helps. I would love to hear if you have any experience in the rescuing efforts or what you have done to help those in need.
