Teacher Tuesday: Recycled Instruments

Today I thought i’d share a fun activity I have been doing with my students the last couple of weeks. We have been collecting materials that can be recycled and turning them into instruments! The unit we are currently on teaches recycling, so I thought this would be a fun activity to get students to participate in recycling. Plus, we get to make a little bit of music!

Black Tulle

Photography: Beckley & Co.

I am so excited to share this look with y’all! As i’m sure everyone knows, I LOVE tulle (I mean, it’s in the name!). I found this tulle skirt at Buffalo Exchange in Austin, TX. For those who are not familiar with the name, Buffalo Exchange is an amazing consignment shop that carries many one-of-a-kind pieces. I have been shopping there since I was in 10th grade. I attribute this store to my unique style I developed in my high school years. Continue reading “Black Tulle”

Sweater Dress + Pink Ruffles

It is no surprise that newsboy caps have made a comeback, seeing as the fashion cycle is pretty much one huge circle that repeats itself every few decades. I am loving this “new” trend, especially because I have quite a few vintage hats from my grandfather on hand. I also see hats of this style in consignment shops everywhere! Trust me, they are not hard to come by. My newsboy cap adds just the right touch of vintage sass to any outfit.  Continue reading “Sweater Dress + Pink Ruffles”

Fun & Non-traditional Valentines Gift Guide for Girly-Girls

Is it just me or is time going by so fast?! I cannot believe Valentines Day is right around the corner.

I don’t know about you, but I love Valentines Day. I think any holiday to celebrate loved ones is a great idea! Of course we should celebrate our loved ones every day, but why not have an extra special day added into the mix. Holidays are just fun…and there is no argument to that.

I found some fun gift ideas for the ladies who are tired of getting the same ‘ol box of chocolates and flowers. Don’t get me wrong. I like flowers and I am a HUGE fan of chocolate, however it is always fun to get something different. These gifts are perfect to either give to your significant other or to your best gal pals!

Warm & Cozy

Photography: Beckley & Co.

January has arrived with some COLD weather! I am so glad I stocked up on cozy warm  items back in the fall. Two of my favorite purchases from the fall (in preparation for winter) were my beanie and scarf from H&M. I actually bought them while in NYC, thinking i’d need them, but I never really did. Now that we are experiencing freezing temps, I am so glad I purchased them last minute! Between the two, I wear the scarf the most. It is a very common occurrence to see me walking around my job with that thing double wrapped around me. What can I say? I like to be bundled! Thrifting into the New Year

Photographer: Meghan Seidel

Happy New Year everyone! My resolution for this year is to be more thrifty and spend less! Of course I will still be hitting up my usual shopping places (H&M, Target, Forever21, etc) but I really want to get back into shopping at Goodwill and other consignment shops. I was SO good at this in high school, y’all. Like, SO GOOD! I always went to our local Goodwill in College Station and wore those pieces to perfection. Continue reading “Thrifting into the New Year”
